About Serenitea Time

T.E.A Time Therapy is mindful of the changes experienced through the aging process. Through T.E.A Time Therapy using an (Therapeutic Engagement Approach) clients will always feel they have your undivided attention, they are seen, heard, and relevant through social interaction and activities. T.E.A Time Therapy is based on the premise of a earlier time that was desired and enjoyed through play, which was preparing a beautiful setting and enjoying a cup of proverbial tea while enjoying conversations. We live in a rushed environment, and everything is all a snap of a finger. As technology speeds up for some things are slowing down.

Aging can make older adults feel lonely, disconnected, or meaningless. Aging can place individuals at higher risk for the inability of not being able to perform everyday tasks, as a result of cognitive changes, major health issues, safety concerns, changes in the quality of life,  and increased rate of mortality.

By 2030, the US will for the first time have more residents over 65 years of age than children. Research shows a demand for high quality, health focused, affordable one on one companion home services. Although, the problem is not all aging individuals meet criteria for long term care facilities, nor do aging individuals desire to give up their lives or homes they worked so hard for.

Many seniors desire to maintain their independence in spite of aging, in their own homes. However, family members may not always agree and may worry about their aging family members being alone, lonely, and socially isolated. As a result, many family members of the aging may experience the huge demands of life and the lack of time may not allow loved ones to visit regularly.

Worrying about an aging loved one can cause a great amount of distress, stress. and guilt. As research reports ongoing stress can lead to cardiovascular disease and many more health issues which can contribute to this overall problem of caregiver strain thus, reducing family support for the aging population.

About Me

My name is Keisha Perry. I am the owner of T.E.A. Time Therapy; you can call me Nurse TEA. T.E.A Time Therapy is a nurse founded and nurse ran companionship business. I have over two decades of medical/surgical/rehab nursing experience as a Registered Nurse. I have worked for several world-renowned health care systems. I am certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support.  My education consists of a BSN in Nursing as well as being a PhD candidate (completed all necessary requirements  up to this point to receive a Doctorate’s degree in Nursing, currently working on Dissertation).

In addition, I will sit for  State Certification for Medical Surgical Nursing (MSN) Exam. Although, I love bedside nursing: I love my senior population and the ability to spend quality time with them, doing fun things and allowing them time to reflect and share their life experiences. I realized that my passion for the senior population started when I was 7 years old.  I spent most of my Saturdays visiting nursing homes with family members, and the rest of the days assisting my aunt who was the caregiver and nurse of the family, taking care of sick family members. I guess you could say I was a nurse in training at an early age.

Through this early introduction to caregiving, it ignited my passion to become a nurse. In addition, it has taught me the importance of pleasant bedside manners which remains useful in my practice today it has taught me patience, and the ability to be a good listener, all while assessing the client, with giving the gift of  being present. From experience this population pay close attention to non-verbal communication and body language. Therefore, T.E.A Time Therapy places an importance on quality time and positive interactions with clients.
